Plant "Quality"? "Florist quality" is a term that is used to denote a better plant, but what does this mean? Quality is a variable that includes materials, size, defects, and handling.

There are a number of pot styles within one pot "size." Plastic 6" pots can be 6"x4" to 6 1/2" x 5", cheap rolled-rim blow-molded to heavy duty molded. It may not seem much of a difference to us, but the pot size is very important to the plant.

Larger pots mean the plant has more room to grow, more weight to keep the pot upright, more water holding capacity, and more soil to feed the plant. At our nursery, we use the large, sturdy size pots. The size of a plant in any given pot is controlled by the number of individual plants in the pot and how long the plant grows in the nursery before shipping. We use more plants and do not ship before the plants meet our size requirements.


Physical defects are sorted out at our nursery, not on our sales floor after the shipment has arrived. Our plants are locally grown, not shipped across country. We handle individual plants, not truck-load quantities. Our employees ONLY handle florist products. They didn't just take a break from stocking tires. After over 30 years of growing and delivering florist quality plants, we take pride in saying that we produce larger plants at a reasonable price that have been expertly handled. We think this makes them "Premium Quality"
